Aspie job angst

One thing that has annoyed me in suffering with Asperger’s is the bad luck in employment. I have a BFA in animation and media design and soon to have a MBA in marketing. For the life of me I can’t get a job to safe my life.

I once read, at least in the UK. People who are on the spectrume have a 10% are working at any given time.  That is the same percentage of actors working at any given time. That is a 90% unemployment. In this economy, I am sure it is even worse now.

I hate it. It also makes it harder to get a girlfriend/future spouse. Who wants to be in a relationship with someone who can’t get work or maintain stable employment?

In the USA here. With the ADA. An employer will think twice about hiring me. Seeing me as a lawsuit preferential. A risk that is not wanted in the business world. I can’t blame them ether.

sometimes we get a job by dumb luck and sometimes by talent, you have both...submit more applications and your odds will go up.

Ever thought about just not telling them you have Aspergers? I mean, it's not really any of their business.

Honestly if I were you I would look into a job more on the marketing side. It may be your best option. If you think people are discriminating against you, you should always report it. (probably anonymously would be best) I would look into the better business bureau and see what they can do.

Preaching to the choir pal. I'm Autistic - mid, too high functional Asperger -, epileptic, colour blind, bipolar and a few other things that would make me think twice about hiring my own sorry ass.

Aye, last I heard it was ten percent in full employment here in Britain; with the majority being in part time work.

Though, the main difference here would be the fact that our government has been supporting us majorly over the past few years. I myself get disabled benefits of around two hundred pounds every two weeks.

Whilst not enough to sustain myself and house of my own; it's enough for me to get by on with carer support.

With that said, tis life. It's a croc o' sh..
